Technology trends such as Big Data, Cloud migration, Data Center efficiency and Consumerization are very challenging and became the biggest disrupters of Enterprise IT today. There is a huge pressure on IT organizations from business managements and board executives, to align the providing IT services with business values; demanding for higher SLAs; leaving IT to deal with flat budgets and operational complexity around it. IT mission critical applications are running on top of IT infrastructures, increasingly abstracted and became complex over time. Business agility dictates continual changes, whilst the same infrastructure is required to deliver optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency. Obstacles of aligning IT organizations with business goals are mainly related to having the right people, processes and technology. Modern data centers consist of highly distributed applications running over increasingly dynamic infrastructures. While the main objective of organizations is to deliver high quality business services while managing costs, applications fully rely on complex environments using best of breed and cost performance heterogeneous IT infrastructure resources and services, combined with constant changes such as settings, configurations and connectivity – presenting some real challenges.

For years, there has been a variety of conceptual tools and solutions evolving in the market, trying to help customers and IT teams to identify IT problems, pinpoint the root cause and correlate the relation and impact on applications and business processes. Those notifications empower IT teams with the right information to easily classify the IT layers affected, such as Client endpoint, network, Front End, Middle Tier application or database along with mapping the affected application, business process or service. In practice, the actionable remediation list is focused on application objects, and does not generate any substantial information about the full chain of underlined infrastructure and data services supporting it.
